Napolitano Apologizes to the American Legion

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has an interview with American Legion Commander David Rehbein who recently met with DHS Secretary Napolitano over her now famous "veterans-and-Conservatives-are-potential-rightwing-extremists"memo. The Commander notes that he has accepted a much more "sincere" apology form DHSSec and thinks that the new administration is "still learning" about veterans and veterans affairs.

The Commander also said that he believes that the report will be withdrawn in favor of a more detailed and accurate analysis of current threats. Sadly, the damage done by this memo - and the earlier position that veterans should pay for their own medical expenses when wounded in combat - is too deep to be forgiven so readily, in my opinion.

There can be no excuse for this insult. The damage is irreversible. How could Sec Napolitano read this report and think, for even an instant, that many Americans would not find it so offensive? How could anyone in that position sign off on its release without including specific intelligence, thereby giving law enforcement a better opportunity to respond to - and prepare for - the "threat," which should have been the memo's intent? I submit that the memo as released was utterly and completely useless and a waste of effort.

These memos were a deliberate attempt to blunt any effect that the TEA Patries would have. It's release was no accident or coincidence. The administration's assertion that POTUS knew "nothing about the TEA Patries" is an outright lie. The DHSSec should be held accountable for this insult and resign. And I am still waiting for Pres Obama to speak to this matter, himself.

My beret is off to Cmdr. Rehbein and the American Legion for their handling of these repeated mistakes by the Obama administration. I, for one, am proud to be a member of this outstanding organization.

Napolitano, being a Democrap don't got to read no stinkin' memos!
She's about as airheaded as our, dare I say, Vice Boob...I mean Vice President.
Nothing would send tingles up my leg more than seeing all those twits from D'ohbama down to Harry-the constipated weasel-Reid and San Fran-face lift-Nan shuffled out of DC in handcuffs!
