Today, I am embarrassed - again- at the example that our president is setting in world affairs. Once again, Obama seems both feeble and out of touch, aloof and uncaring. Once again, he is playing footsie with his pals in the media while dodging the important events of the day. Once again, his inexperience has proven to be the weakness that we have long feared.
While tens of thousands are fighting for their right to have their vote counted, while some are even dying, Obama issued a lame written statement and then went for ice cream, taking his media lap dogs with him. Compare and contrast at Hot Air and Michelle Malkin's. With so much on the line, including the future of Iran as a nuclear state, the President of the United States has once again voted present.
Disgusting.
I don't buy the company line that his disciples are spewing, the old we-can't-be-seen-as-interfering nonsense. They are going to blame us, anyway, so what possible difference could it make?
After a week of deafening silence, Obama seems to be - finally! - realizing that he is expected to do something here. Caution is in order, to be certain, but it is more important, I think, to be on the side of what is right. The Iranian people are protesting and dying for just a small taste of the freedom that so many of us take for granted each day; I think that they have earned a few choice words of support from the "leader of the free world."
It's time to take a side. I'm waiting, Mr. President.
